Regarding the service, it took forever to place our drink and app order and there was a long wait between our apps and main meal. Went for a birthday celebration and they placed a happy birthday card on the table. The tuna for two app should be called tuna for one and and even then extremely over priced for what was served. My fault for not taking a photo. Veal meatball sliders were good. Main courses were pasta w spinach and cheese, pounded Veal chop, lamp chops, short ribs all good. A napoleon and cheese cake was for dessert. Nothing spectacular but would go back.
We had the chicken parmigiana which was amazing. Tender full of flavor. Also the black sqid ink pasta with shrimp was very good. This is our favorite restaurant. Would recommend this restaurant to friends and family!
I ventured to Cafe Testarossa tonight with the intention of going someplace new and a place where I could clear my head. As someone who's been in the restaurant industry their whole life, I can confidently say that I am looking forward to my next trip back to enjoy a full course meal. Everyone was extremely friendly. I only had a glass of port and the banana napoleon. The napoleons' I've had in the past where usually more cream heavy and lightly crunchy, but this was unique and memorable because it was more of a brownie brittle like texture. Like a creamy marshmallow between two fresh graham crackers. I can't forget to mention the banana slices that were sandwiched in with the cream; they too were scrumptious. The best part was the expo who came out and added his friendly-ness and clear care for the patrons enjoyment of the food. A lot of expos' I know are quick to just drop and dash, but something about his interaction with me left a mark. I think he might've been the first expo I've ever felt like was actually present and engaging; not like a robot that comes and goes to each and every table.
Delicious! The food was amazing. So light and fresh. Fried calamari was the best I ever had. The branzino entree was seasoned perfectly. Our server was on point. Very attentive. Everyone was very accommodating. Restaurant was decorated nicely. Looking forward to coming back soon.
The halibut was beyond superb! I have wanted to go back just for THAT since I had it Xmas Eve.Home made pasta bolognese was heavenly. My other halfs octopus made me change my mind about octopus.Cold seafood salad he raved about. The coconut creme brulee had that CRACK you want, and its fresh coconut. If you think you dont like coconut, do try this.Drinks were good and very good by the glass house wines. The service was superb with Steven! .Hes attentive, knowledgable, and professional 😉💖. I felt so special and welcomed by everyone coming by, saying hello, etc. Nice atmosphere in the bar area where we sat. DO try this place. I'm a serious foodie. This place gives our very hot local place we frequent a serious run for thier money!!!! I'd travel from the Islips anyday to eat here again!
One less star for on line reservations said only table available was 4pm, But there were many open tables from 4 - 7 pm while we were there. Okay now to the good part, this place is a classic Italian Restaurant, fancy, nice place with excellent prepared dishes, superb service and everything is always delish! We had the Halibut and it was out of this world (highly recommend). But first the apps; crabcakes w/shrimp added a nice little twist from traditional, clams oregano sweet small lots of flavor, calamari tender just what you would expect. Drinks include an Italian beer haven't seen anywhere else (see pic) sangria Italian style is a refreshing version too. Another main entree was the Scallops also a favorite (kinda on the light side though), the Messi Rigatoni veal, sausage, peas, ricotta, just delish! Desserts are all so good too. Oh I can't say enough about the service, so efficient other restaurants could learn from!
My cousin's baby shower was held at Cafe Testarossa recently. From the moment we pulled the car up to unload the decorations and presents, etc., the staff was at the door to greet us and assist. They were extremely accommodating, polite, and gracious.
As the party started, the drinks and passed appetizers were plentiful and delicious. The plated dinners were amazing, starting with an incredibly fresh green salad and 3 choices for the entrée. Each entrée was plated and presented beautifully, and all were amazingly delicious!
Overall, it was an amazing day with family and friends celebrating my cousin's new baby. It was enhanced by the kind and professional staff, and delicious food.
First time at Cafe Testarossa. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. Came for my Birthday dinner with my family. Pleasantly greeted upon arrival and seated immediately. Food is phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the crab and shrimp cakes, fried calamari and ravioli. For my entree, I had the almond crusted chicken. My husband had the branzino. We enjoyed so much that we took half home for lunch the next day. Our server, Dinora, was lovely. Pleasant and attentive. I am in a wheelchair which posed no problem at all. Everyone was so hospitable. I cannot wait to come back and try other menu options.
